Close Grip Push Ups. Some call these Diamond Push Ups. Instead of Placing the hands shoulder width on the floor under the chest/shoulder area, you place your hands close together directly under the chest. This increases the difficulty of the exercise and makes the arms work harder. This exercise can be done on the toes or on the knees.

Note: Push ups can be modified many ways. Close grip is a very common modification. Wide grip is a little less common, but effective all the same. a description of Wide grip push ups is below.

Wide Grip Push Ups. Instead of placing the hands directly underneath the chest/shoulder area, place them wider. This increases the difficulty of the exercise and makes the chest and shoulder muscles work harder.

Close grip Diamond push ups are a great exercise for kids

They may need to start out on their knees, but this is a great chest, shoulder, tricep and core exercise for kids
