This exercise really isolates the shoulders. Holding a set of equal weight dumbbells either
standing or seated, allow the dumbbells to hang at your sides with your palms facing you body. Begin by raising the
dumbbells out to the side, away from you body in an upward arc motion. Keep a slight bend in the elbows as the
dumbbells continue up until your entire arm is parallel with the floor. At the top of the exercise your hands will
be as high as your shoulders. Lower the dumbbells in a controlled manner following the same path back to the
starting position. Begin the next repetition by raising the dumbbells again.
Dumbbell side lateral raises are a great exercise
for kids
This exercise works really well for kids. It is easy to explain and demonstrate and is
highly effective.
